KINDERHAUS AN DER AMMER
Integrative Childrens Day Care Center – Nursery and kindergarten – PEIβENBERG (GERMANY)

The Kinderhaus has beendounded in 2005, in the town there is other 5 schools. In the town there are two kindergartens / nurseries integrated.
Families applying to be entered in the school of their choice, people with disabilities have the priority.
Is an integrative nurserí-kindergarten, welcomes children from 1 to 6 years. Can be caredof 105 children. The actual number of children are 63. The number depends on the number of children with disability included, because every child with special needs counts as three children. In the kindergarten there are usually 15-21 children, in the nursery 12-15 (depending on the number of special needs children). The maximum number of disabled people attending the structure as a whole is 15.
The cost for families is: 70/90 € a month for kindergarten -140/180 € per month for the nursery- 55 eur per month for meals.
Is open from 7.00 AM to 16.00 PM.
The team of educators for each group is 6 people per group of nursery and 3 for each group of kindergarten, these people are not always present at the same time.
The building is new, a building with a ground floor only, the classrooms are bright and have access to a private garden. In the garden there are some games for the children. Part of the garden is only open to children in the nursery, and is enclosed.
Each group has two rooms, equipped with games, a kitchen where are keep dishes to eat, tables, chairs and a shelf where it is kept the portfolio of each child. The portfolio content photos, drawings and memories of both of the activities carried out in kindergarten and at home (for kindergarteners).
There are also separate rooms dedicated to speech therapy, gymnastics, drawing.
There are more bathrooms for the children.
The philosophy of the school is the freedom: children can choose where to spend the time not devoted to group work, they can go to other groups or in the garden. Must apply their symbol on a whiteboard, so that the teacher always knows where they are.
Children with disability have moments of activity alone or in small groups with qualified staff (speech therapist, psychotherapist, ergotherapist).
The structured activities are in the morning, in the afternoon the nursery school’s children do not need to sleep, but there are two rooms equipped for the relax if they wish. Many children go home after lunch.
The work of teachers is based on collaboration, every week they meet for1-2 hours. There is also continue discussions with professionals special. It is also important the work with parents, especially for children with special needs, to assess the progress of children.
Teachers have a file for each child, and shall recognize its competence (motor, speech ...) on forms provided for that purpose.
After the pre-school children with special needs go in special schools, but the parents can decide if to send a child to a special school or integrated.
The integration in Germany at the beginning, there is only 2 or 3 years.
